Toward limitless outcomes and opportunities

At our 2018 Strada+InsideTrack Student Success Symposium, we challenged ourselves to close opportunity and outcome gaps through career-forward student support. We’ll keep advancing new ideas and strategies for increasing achievement. But during future Symposium gatherings, we’ll never be able to announce that we’ve attained our goal — not because we’ve given ourselves an impossible task, but because the possible outcomes we can impact are limitless.

We can measure outcomes in individual students, tracing milestones from the first day of college to the first day on the job. We can measure outcomes in groups of students too, tracking metrics like enrollment and graduation. But there are other outcomes we can impact that extend beyond the lifecycle of one student’s journey. Expanding opportunities for all students has the power to change the fabric of higher education itself.

Institutions that integrate career-forward support more fully into the student experience transform from a place where students receive an education to one where they also shape their futures.Including more voices and perspectives in our institutions creates more learning opportunities that sharpen students’ abilities to communicate, collaborate and solve problems together. These are the skills that prepare individuals to evolve and develop over the course of a choice-filled career.

At a time when some are questioning the relevance of higher education for today’s workplace, the best case we can make for it is broadening access to the opportunities it provides. When we empower more students to succeed in education and employment, the outcomes are immeasurable.

The resources you’ll find within this site capture the some of the insights and practices we discovered together.

See what we’ve learned so far, and join us as we continue to #CloseEdGaps.
